Fitness Challenge: Day 1 – Just Getting Started

DAY 1: As I prepare to lay my weary body down to sleep this evening, I am grateful to have made it through day one of my personal fitness challenge.

Overall, it was a successful day as I enjoyed fresh green juice for breakfast, fresh orange/carrot juice for lunch and a lovely salad and vegan jambalaya for dinner.

I also got you walk in. I met my goal of 30 minutes walking, having walked for 33 minutes and 1.26 miles. It is the first time I have walked this distance since the fall of last year.

So, how did it all go? Today, being the first day, which probably easier in some that will be coming down the road. I really felt no hunger pangs for breakfast or lunch, but after my walk I was very hungry and grateful for solid food for dinner. As for the walk, it was a beautiful evening and not too warm. After about halfway through the walk my left knee, which is always been a problem for me, started to hurt but I gutted it through.

I am overwhelmingly gratified by the amount of support from my friends near and far on this first day of my journey. Because I am going by the philosophy of “no finish mine,” I don’t have a foreseeable end to this journey, but I certainly plan to enjoy the ride, (Or should I say “enjoy the walk?”)

I will continue to visualize “The Real Me” and will also follow my personal concept of “one day at a time.”

The saga continues…

Congrats on joining the plant based lifestyle. I’ve recently recommitted myself to the McDougall plan. I lost about 40 lbs on it when I lived in China and then gained it back after moving to Saudi and eating all that rich Lebanese food. Now I’m back on the plant based hamster wheel for life. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Marti! My wife has been challenging me to this for months. Honestly, at heart I am still a “flexitarian” but meat, eggs and dairy are slowly fading out of my diet. For now I am pushing through despite the cravings. Will continue to be a challenge for a while…taking it day by day.

I am there with you my friend if I dare to call someone I have never met a friend. Very interested in weight loss for those of us not as young as we used to be.

Cricket: I have many “friends” from Facebook whom I have come to know very well…including you. And yes, weight loss and exercise for us older fogeys (in body…not in mind!!) is always a challenge. I am just fed up with my body winning out over my mind. Time to let the body know who is REALLY in control!!
