Fitness Challenge Day 69: Approaching 35 pounds

SweatOFlam…worked up a sweat on Sunday morning early

I am now 69 days into my “Fitness Challenge” to gain my health back and lose weight.  I am seeing progress and am gratified that things seem to be working.  It was a great day as I walked and then, just before heading to church, weighed in at 415.6 pounds…making a loss of 34.4 since April 1.

I woke up early enough to get out on the coolish morning (around 68°) and walked my longest walk yet at 2.67 miles.  I am slowly approaching the 5K mark, but may not get to it until Saturday when I walk it at the Great American Fitness Challenge.

Actually, I probably could have done it yesterday, but I ‘ran out of road.”  I tried to extend the distance and adjusted the route in hopes of pushing to the 3 mile mark, but, by the time I got home, there was still no “Three Mile Smile” opportunity. Despite this, I am pleased with the workout.

My MapMyWalk Route for Sunday…a whole new twist

Smile at a Mile

Of course, I can’t leave out my Smile at a Mile and Two Mile Smile pics.  I am happy to get those in.

Walking is certainly getting easier for me.  I made it well over two miles before my knees started hurting.  That is HUGE in my mind.

Two Mile Smile

I should get at least three more two mile walks in this week.  I need to be ready for Saturday, yet also not have my knees burned out.  We’ll see how it goes.

I should note as well that I also parked in the furthest parking space at church and got in an additional amount of walking.  I continue to believe that every extra step helps and I no longer seek the closest parking space.  It is always funny to me when Julianne gives me a smiley/smirkey face as I park out in the “boonies.”  I know it is more of an “I can’t believe it” look since I never used to do this.  But, seriously, I am getting into this and WANT to use every means to get down.

Also, I must note that Julianne made a really unique dinner yesterday.  We had a pesto made from kale and some other stuff and then it went on organic edamame spaghetti noodles.  That was an interesting twist.  Actually, I was quite happy with them as they were close in texture to buckwheat noodles and, with the pesto and mushrooms and a little pink himalayan salt, we very tasty.

Organic Edamame Spaghetti – we bought this at Costco. It was a good decision
